Leather Surfaces and Patina
A leather product's appearance can change as it is carried, touched and exposed to its everyday environment. How much it changes depends on the leather, finish, colour and use.

What is patina?
Patina is a gradual change in a material's appearance through age and use. On some leathers this may show as shifts in sheen, tone or surface character; other finishes are designed to keep a more consistent appearance.
Patina is not guaranteed and does not develop in the same way on every leather. Product construction, finish and daily habits all matter.
Choose the look that suits you
If you prefer a surface that develops character, read the product's material and finish description carefully. If you prefer a more uniform look, ask how the finish is expected to respond to handling and wear.
Product photos show a particular item under particular lighting. Small differences in colour and texture can occur, so use the written specifications as well as imagery.
Help the surface age well
Keep leather away from prolonged moisture, intense heat and harsh chemicals. If the item becomes wet, follow its care instructions and allow it to dry naturally away from direct heat.
Test any cleaner or conditioner on a discreet area only when the product's care guidance permits it. When uncertain, contact the maker before applying a treatment.
This guide provides general information, not a guarantee of how a specific item will perform. Follow the care information supplied with your product.
